"The best place for Thai in Miami so far... Best Thai food that I know. Great service. You can sense owners are focused on food taste. I continue going back to Tamarind for great duck curry!!!!!"
"Best Thai restaurant in the Miami area... I have been to Thailand and have obviously enjoyed authentic Thai food there. I can simply say that Tamarind is the closest thing to real Thai food one can find in the greater Miami area. What a gem! I have been here for 2 years now and have tried a number of so called " Thai" restaurants. Most of them were just disappointing to say the least. In addition, they are often coupled as Thai / Japanese restaurants. ( What an odd concept, but pretty common in this area). Tamarind Thai is definitely the exception. The service is impeccable, the restaurant cozy and elegant, the food just superb. I loved the place, highly recommend it and will go back soon!"
"My all-time favorite Thai restaurant!!...I used to live right behind Tamarind Thai restaurant, and it was all I could do to force myself NOT to go there too often and spend too much money! I love that place. It's always been a little sad to me that it seems under-appreciated; every time I've been there, there have been several open tables, and a place that good should be full all the time, in my opinion.
"The food is simply amazing. One thing I like about Tamarind Thai is that they don't try too hard to be anything other than what they are, which is a really darn good Thai restaurant. For some reason, almost every Thai restaurant in South Florida is also a sushi bar, and they often have 10-page menus. Sometimes the food is good, too; but Tamarind Thai has beaten out every single one of them for consistently excellent Thai food. Their menu has plenty of options, including several for vegetarians and vegans, but it is not so big it makes you puzzle over it for hours. Everything they make, they make really, really well. Their panang curry is TO DIE FOR. Best I've ever had, hands down. if you like fish, you must try the steamed whole snapper (Pla nung ma nao) with lime and garlic. I used to get very strong cravings for that, and it is very spicy, which I loved! I don't eat meat or fish anymore so I won't be having it again, but it was amazing. (You WILL have to wait about 25 minutes for it upon ordering--which they'll warn you of when you order it--but it is worth every second of the wait.)
"Every time I have been there, the service has been very friendly and attentive. They have outdoor seating which can be really nice if the weather is right; it faces the square so you don't have a lot of traffic in your face. It has a classy but understated atmosphere, phenomenal food (as I've said over and over!), excellent service and it is NOT a chain. It really doesn't get much better than that!"
"One of the best Thai restaurants in Florida!"
"Attentive service. Tasty food. Central area ...all merged into 1 great experience. I left Tamarind with good energy. I've been talking about the curry for days. I also had a great Tom Yum Goong soup (shrimp in lemon-based soup). I have to agree with David R. I tried the Laap Gai he suggested and it was a hit... we almost ordered a second one. They have great sake options and outdoor seating."
"There are many reasons to love Tamarind. It's the absence of certain Miami Beach qualities that initially got me intrigued. It's not packed, it's not pretentious, and it's not overpriced. I had a special pumpkin curry that was to die for. The spices are perfectly integrated to make it taste like an authentic experience. The rotti bread was also fantastic. I also had spring rolls for appetizer. Everything blew me away. It was a great experience and I will readily recommend this place to anybody who can appreciate quality Thai food."
"This is my go to spot for great Thai food near SoBe. The asian cuisine in South Florida leaves a lot to be desired, but Tamarind Thai never fails. Order the curry. It's complex with a perfect amount of spice. I'm drooling now just thinking about it. Oh, and clear your schedule after your meal- I usually conk out from major food coma."
"I loved this place! Definitely the best Thai food in Miami and that I have had in years. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone and if you're willing to try new dishes go ahead. Great service and ambiance. Try the chicken and shrimp dumplings, coco banana for dessert, and the duck dish is great. There is also an appetizer with crunchy noodles served in a basket with tamarind sauce which I suggest."
"Fantastic! Best Thai restaurant in Miami! Staff is nice and sweet. I always order to go, but feel at peace when I enter this restaurant to order. Prices good, most under $15/entree. Hidden gem in Normandy."
"Charming little Thai place on Normandy Circle with a well-regarded London chef."
"Can't find anything better than this! Clean, delicious, always fresh, service great, ingredients perfectly put together! The chef is a genius for better words!"

"This restaurant was my first encounter with Thai cuisine. It was love at first bite. I tried many of their dishes such as the usual pad Thai, the duck in coconut milk and vegetables, the appetizer sampler etc... I was never disappointed. The service is very good and the ambiance is calm, romantic and relaxing. I went to Thailand shortly after and I can seriously say that the food at Tamarind is faithful to the real Thai spirit and flavors."
One of my wife and I's favorite spots. Having been to Thailand I'd say the food is quite authentic. Curry dishes are really yummy here. The service is always with a smile (So Thai )

A gem in the quiet North Beach area. The food is fresh fresh fresh and flavorful. Worth leaving South Beach for.
Fantastic Thai food. Chef also has restaurants in Paris and London. True Thai food. Really delicious. Fun Normandy circle location. Priced really well.
The place is impeccable in more ways than one; ambiance romantic. You won't find anything more tasty & delicious... so wonderful to your palate, no matter what it demands. Also a great place for lunch. Prices don't reflect the fantastic quality of the food, this is one of the best parts. They are so reasonable, especially on the shrimp--especially the lunch.
We have been bringing our baby here since he was first born. They always make room for the stroller and are happy to have us there. The food is very good --we had our Son's baptism lunch there and they prepared a special menu including dessert for a very reasonable price.
No intimidation for those shy at heart (I was intimidated going in the first time) food and friendliness got me over that. Well bon appetite! Take a ride you won't forget! Ohh yea, EXCELLENT ZAGAT RATING!!!
Fresh, incredibly tasty dishes: I've been here 3 times and the food is fantastic. All of the ingredients are super fresh and the flavors of all the dishes I tried are very clean. (I had green papaya salad, green curry with shrimp, the whole snapper steamed with ginger, and a massaman currry with tofu.) Service is good too, although not the fastest in the world when they get busy. But they're generous and friendly. This is by far the best Thai restaurant my husband and I have found in & around Miami and we've tried every one we can find.
Nicely done Thai food with a broader menu than the usual dozen items you see at most local places. Can be bland unless you beg them to make it Thai spicy, but if you say it like you mean it, they'll deliver the goods.
Excellent food. A must visit if you like Thai.
Tamarind Thai serves the best Thai on Miami Beach.
First try was disappointing, 2nd was a charm. Crispy curry fish was fab. Bring your wine for a modest corkage fee as their list is brief and disappointing.
This restaurant is the best thai in Miami...I made reservations (even though on the night I went it was not necessary), but we were greeted warmly and taken to a table by the window with a little "reserved" sign on it...It made it feel special. The service was so attentive and warm...It was perfect. And the food...Wow...Amazingly fresh and flavorful. Thai doughnuts were delicous...In total, for two people we spent $70 including a bottle of wine..
This is the best Thai restaurant I have been to in Miami. The food is always good, consistency is the number one advantage here. The service, although a little slow, just shows you that the food is cooked to order. The staff is friendly and ready to serve you in any ways. The atmosphere is quiet and simple, with nice painting of local artists on the walls.
Tamarind brings fine dining to the Normandy Isle area of Miami Beach. This cozy restaurant serves exquisite curry and sweet dishes at a reasonable price. Never packed to capacity, but always busy, this is the place to go for excellent dining without the South Beach crowd or price. The Panang curry is great.
Great food w/ lots of flavor! Try whole fried snapper, on a tamarind base sauce.....de-li-cious!!!
Very courteous service. Numerous choices. Reasonable prices. Reservations not needed although it's popular with neighborhood people.
Great casual find, with a good hand in the kitchen, and engaging staff, pleasant ambiance, and a price tag that won't bring you down.
Inexpensive and delicious Thai favorites that are consistently well prepared. The only downside is the muted ambience, but still worth a visit.
Best Thai in Miami. This is the real deal.
Decent Thai food
Excellent Thai restaurant in Miami Beach.
Excellent service and great Pad Thai.
Scrumptious delights. My girlfriend and I read the reviews and tried it out. It was better than we had hoped. We didnt know what to order and asked for help from the waitress. She was very helpful and explained what she liked the most and what customers tend to enjoy. Once the food arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. Hmm....it was soo good. I can still taste all of the awesome flavors. The green curry with shrimp and white jasmine rice is excellent for spice lovers. The pork ginger and pineapple stir-fry is excellent for those with a softer pallette. Don't forget dessert, we had warm tapioca and corn with coconut milk which we shared. Mmmm....
WOW! Really Good food...I was hesitant to try this place out at first but I was glad I gave it a shot. The food was absolutely delicious. Try the Pad-tai, very delicious. Although I just had pork stir-fry in ginger and pinneapple with mushrooms, green and red peppers and onions and let me tell you it was some of the best stir-fry I've had in a very long time. Let me just get to the point and recommend to try this place, you will be satisfied...great service too!!
Off the beaten path GEM. We have been back twice since first discovering this place on our last trip to Miami Beach. If you want Excellent food, no waiting, very reasonably prices and attentive service - go here for some of the best Thai food in Miami.
YUMMY and FUN!! This was a great place for dinner with friends! There was no wait and the food was delicious and so fresh! We don't eat meat so no comment on the Tom Kar Anything but the fish and the salads were excellent. If you want it spicy just ask and yee shall receive - crying hot. Even better was the waiter JEB with his red glasses and quick wit! He made the night great fun. Highly recommended.
Ming and I finally had the opportunity to eat at Tamarind Thai, Vatcharin Bhumichitr's Thai restaurant here in the Miami area. I believe the original is in London. Even though I love Oriental foods, Thai has not been one of my favorites. The flavors do not speak to me in the same way that Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, or Korean flavors do. However, no one can ever deny good food no matter what the cuisine may be. That is what Tamarind offers... good food. We tried the chicken satays, the roti, basil and chile fried rice, and the whole fried snapper. Although everything was good, the snapper and the roti stood out. Ming requested the tamarind sauce with it. I could not stop eating the skin of the fish... it was so crisp and tasty with that great flavor of fish fat that increases near the outer edge beneath the skin (of course, omega3 fatty acids always taste better when they are fried!). I also have to say that the peanut sauce here is phenomenal, although a touch too sweet. A good peanut sauce recipe is something that every cook should keep in his repertoire. You will eventually and repeatedly need to make it again and again for various events. I plan to take the recipe from Vatch's Thai Kitchen (the book that goes with the restaurant) and modify it for my recipe folder.
...the surprise second-place winning empanada came from Tamarind Thai Restaurant, which filled its dough with chicken curry, potatoes, onions and green tea.
Nice spot on normandy Nice thai restaurant on normandy circle. Try the ginger lemonade if you're feeling daring
