Due to high-demand and the success of May’s Thai cooking class, H3 continues to present Thai food cooking and feature its special healing components. On the menu for this class is Curry. Thai food emphasizes on the freshness of the ingredients. In Thailand, locals go either to a fresh market or to their own back yard to pick their fresh ingredients. Here in US, especially in Miami, where tropical herbs are abundant, it is easy to make Thai curry from scratch. This workshop offers the opportunity for those who love curry and have the urge to try something new and fresh. Participants will enjoy the hands-on process of making homemade curry paste, fresh coconut milk and preparing the final dish. The chef will share her tricks and secrets so you feel confident and at ease making this dish in your own kitchen. Menu: Red and Green Curry with: Vegetable, Meat and Shrimp Served with Jasmine rice **At this time, we are only accepting 15 people. We may offer this class again on another Saturday, depending on whether or not enough people sign up. Parking and Buses: Parking is available on the street. For those who are commuting from South Beach by bus, the L bus passes by the restaurant. For more information or to RSVP, please email info@h3hope.org or call 305.531.2046. It falls in the hottest time of the year in Thailand, at the end of the dry season. Songkran coincides with the New Year of many calendars of South and Southeast Asia. The New Year is celebrated by the throwing of water, it is a time for cleaning and renewal. Thais roam the streets with containers of water or water guns and drench each other and passersby. The water is a symbolic meaning of washing away all that is bad. Continue reading Happy Thai New Year!
If you would like to make a reservation, please call us at (305) 861-6222 (reservations are optional) At Tamarind Thai, we strongly believe in supporting our North Beach Community. As a result we have organized the “Thanksgiving Food Drive for Senior Citizens.” Please assist us in helping our senior residents who are financially unable to celebrate this holiday by donating non perishable food items or a turkey at our restaurant. We will deliver the donations to UNIDAD of Miami Beach- a non-profit organization that is aiding Florida’s senior citizens that live below the poverty level. To show our appreciation for your generosity, we are giving away 10 gift cards valued at 5 dollars each for your donations (while supplies last). We want to ensure that everyone is able to have a wonderful holiday meal no matter their circumstance and we thank you in advance for your support. In March, commissioner Edward L. Tobin sent out a letter to local businesses in the North Beach area asking, “ If we bring a world class tennis tournament to North Beach, could it help stimulate the neighborhood?” Continue reading Bringing World Class Tennis Tournament to North Beach In mid April, I was approached by a representative of the The Humane Society of the United States (who happens to be my customer) asking me to join hundreds of top chefs in the “Chefs for Seals” campaign. The top chefs combined with over 5,550 restaurants and grocery stores in the U.S. are uniting to participate in the “ProtectSeals” campaign. It caught my attention and I was shocked to learn that the inhumane practice of hunting seal pups still exists. Thanks to Nigel Barker, a world-renowned photographer and a judge from America’s Next Top Model, for creating the documentary “A Sealed Fate”, which sheds light on these disturbing hunts. The documentary bears witness to his personal experiences. I attended the “Chefs for Seals” event hosted by the organization who collaborated with Nigel Barker, the spokesperson for the campaign, on April 22 at the Miami Design District. Please join us in helping to save the baby seals. For more details about the Miami Chefs for Seals event visit Nigel Barker’s blog or the Humane Society’s website |
